About Us

Annette Hull

Our Founder

Annette Hull and her husband Bruce Hull began breeding & showing purebred West Highland White Terriers in around 1968. At that time they were living on “Garlands Station”, the family’s 40,000 acre sheep and cattle property at Bourke in Far Western New South Wales.

Annette’s first show dog was West Highland White Terrier “Cadwit Cassanova” aka ‘Snoopy’

Snoopy attained multiple Australian Champion status after being shown Snoopy across NSW and Victoria. Anne and Bruce could be regularly seen travelling “down the line” at regional dog shows, and at the Sydney and Melbourne Royal Shows. In those days, they family travelled in relative comfort. Annette’s little boys Scott and Greg travelled in the back seat while the show dogs were crates strapped to the car roof which they loved!

Anne was very successful because she was a perfectionist. She had an exceptional eye for detail and knew how to present dogs for the show ring. Anne also knew what she was after in a dog, and she knew how to produce a dog to win.

For almost 60 years, Annette had owned and bred dogs. Some of the breeds that Annette owned included: West Highland White Terriers, Beagles, Dachshunds, Pugs, Pekinese, Fox Terriers, German Shepherds, Kelpies, Blue Heelers, Chihuahuas, Bichon Frisé, and Poodles. Today, Par Annette Poodles focuses on Miniature and Standard Poodle puppies, and also Miniature Cavoodles.

Sadly, Annette succumbed to Leukaemia on 5 July 2019. Before her illness, Annette was a super active 73 year old who loved all animals (except green frogs and snakes!). Many years ago, while living in the bush, Annette accidentally boiled a frog that had found its way into the jug. She then inadvertently poured and drunk a pot of tea before realising why the tea tasted strange! She lost her romantic attachment for green frogs from that say. She was not keen on snakes either because they would like to kill puppies and baby chickens.

Bruce stoutly insists on the family continuing Annette’s legacy by continuing to breed fine quality puppies in her honour.

Par Annette Poodles literally translates to “Poodles By Annette”. Bruce, along with the help of his son and daughter in law, granddaughter, and great grandson continue the tradition. The family strives to produce the best possible puppies for family pets and companion dogs.

Bruce Hull

Our Founder

Bruce Hull grew up on “Garlands Station”. “Garlands” was originally owned by Jack Hull who traded a “Dreadnought” bullockwagon and a team of bullocks at a valuation of £85 for the original 20,000 acres in the early 1900s.

Bruce has always had an intimate connection with livestock and dogs and successfully showed Champion Shorthorn cattle at the Sydney Royal Show. Bruce also had champion working dogs.

Bruce’s favourite Australian Kelpie sheepdog was “Rocket”. Rocket was one of the most renown sheep dogs in Western New South Wales. In 1967 Bruce was managing “Euroli Station” an 80,000 acre property on the NSW and Queensland border. Bruce’s grazier father Walter Hull was gobsmacked by Rocket when he visited Bruce at Euroli. Preempting Walter’s arrival Bruce dropped Rocket at the far end of a 10,000 acre paddock with a mob of 200 sheep. He then drove to the other end of the paddock and waited at the gate for Walter. Walter asked what he was doing. Bruce said, “Just waiting here for the dog to muster this paddock!” Walter said, “What on her own?” Bruce replied, “Yeah, she’ll be right”. A couple of hour later, Rocket arrived at the yards with the 200 sheep – plus another 800 more she collected on the way! Rocket had picked up every other sheep in the paddock, and had mustered an astonishing 1000 sheep single-handed! Good girl. She was a loyal, intelligent, and loving dog. She even slept right underneath the house, below the floor where 3 year old Scott slept.

Bruce always claimed he fell in love with Annette the “first time he laid eyes on her”. After getting married Bruce went from preparing cattle for showing to helping Annette prepare dogs for the show scene. Although, Bruce credits their dog’s success entirely to Annette, he cheekily claims it was because he fed a diet of freshly killed Kangaroo to the dogs which was the real reason for her having Champion dogs. He said the judges were always impressed by the dogs muscle mass and quality which said is all because of a natural diet of fresh meat.

Now, Bruce suffers from Supra Nuclear Palsy. Many suggest it is attributed to the type of sheep dip chemicals used on the farm. Bruce’s mobility has deteriorated, and at 87 years of age in 2026, Bruce is mostly confined to a wheelchair. He is cared for fulltime by his son. Bruce still loves sharing the joy puppies bring to others.

Four generations of loving dogs

Par Annette Poodles has been breeding and loving dogs for four generations. Annette’s son, grand daughter, and great grandson have taken over the care of the dogs to help Bruce continue Annette’s legacy of breeding beautiful Poodle puppies. Nowadays, Par Annette Poodles’ focus is to breed the rarer coloured Standard and Miniature Poodles as well as Miniature Cavoodle puppies. Par Annette Poodles are committed to breeding Apricot, Red, Cafe Au Lait, Parti and Phantom coloured Miniature and Standard Poodles and Cavoodles.

Par Annette Poodle Puppies are bred for intelligence, trainability, and companionship as well as ensuring puppies are gentle, calm, and well socialised. Annette always maintained that a breeder should only breed puppies from dogs who have perfect dispositions and who are perfect with children!
